Therapeutic massage addresses the various aches, pains, and injuries caused by everyday life—whether you’re an athlete, an office worker, or a stay-at-home parent. We’ll assess your specific needs and use a variety of Massage Techniques (Deep Tissue, Swedish, Hot Stone etc) to get you relief & results!
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork– and one of the most popular. It includes a variety of smooth & fluid movements such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
9 out of 10 clients ask for deep pressure thinking “no pain, no gain” yet that is somewhat of an unfortunate misnomer in the massage industry. Certainly an amount of discomfort can be expected when working deep or tender areas, but if you trust your therapist to listen to YOUR body and work deeper as the tissue allows, you will experience greater benefits from allowing them to work superficial to deep, as your body allows. My mindset is to coax the muscle to return to its normal state, not ‘force it’.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body and is not necessarily achieved by adding great amounts of pressure. Generally speaking, Deep Tissue massage moves at a slower, more incremental pace- working superficial to deep as the tissue releases. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and lingering injuries. Soreness is common after the treatment plenty of water should be ingested to aid in circulation.
hot stone massage
Hot Stone massage is an expansion to traditional Swedish massage, and in a therapeutic context, it’s absolutely wonderful and extremely effective for releasing muscle tension. The heat of the smooth volcanic stones penetrates deeply into muscle tissue to help relax the muscle so that the therapist can work deeper for a more intense therapeutic experience.
Massaging & kneading with hot stones helps increase an area’s circulation and blood flow to stimulate healing to painful or damaged muscles, and because the heat of the stones is so relaxing most people can receive deeper work. Using stones in a stationary position (placement) allows the weight and heat of the stone to work over time to relax the muscle. It is incredibly calming & relaxing, and clients should expect to feel somewhat sedated after a hot-stone treatment.
Massage during pregnancy is an ideal way to reduce fatigue, improve muscle tone and circulation, increase energy, and reduce muscle pain and joint stiffness that often accompany the changes occurring in the body during pregnancy. Performed in side-lying position, prenatal massage is very gentle and relaxing, with the added benefits of easing aches and pains (particularly in the lower back and abdomen), reducing fluid retention and slowing the processes which can lead to varicose veins, . Through prenatal massage, expectant mothers can learn to consciously release tension and focus on breathing techniques and muscle relaxation. Please Note: Due to an already taxed circulatory system during pregnancy, Prenatal Massages can be booked for 30 or 60 Min massages only.
trigger point therapy
A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that can cause pain in other parts of the body- for example, a trigger point in the back may produce referral pain in the neck or head. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache. Trigger point therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release.
In this type of massage for trigger point therapy, the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort. The results and benefits of trigger point massage are releasing constricted areas in the muscles thus alleviating pain. You can experience a significant decrease in pain after just one treatment. Receiving massage with trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help naturally manage pain and stress from chronic injuries
